The New Year, 2010, is going to be a rich year as far as new bikes in India are concerned. Already Mahindra has confirmed to launch new bikes in India while Bajaj has disclosed to introduce two new bikes in India. Harley Davidson will bring 12 superbike in April. Now Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India (HMSI) has announced to launch two new bikes in India in the next fiscal. The company wants to boost its sales by introducing new bikes and targets to touch 15 lakh bike sale in 2010-11. Honda has launched its new entry-level bike, Honda CB Twister, in India a few weeks ago. However, other details about the bikes are awaited. Shinji Aoyama, HMSI president and CEO told a news agency that the company intends to sell 8 lakh units of scooters and 7 lakh units of bikes in India. In the last fiscal, it sold 10.7 lakh units of two-wheelers. In the current fiscal, the figures may be raised to 12.5 lakh but for the next fiscal, it will be 15 lakh units. Nevertheless, he denied to introduce any new scooter in Indian two-wheeler market. It may be noted that HMSI is the leading company in scooter sales in India with a market share of over 50 per cent.
